There are a variety of groups that our members may participate in:
The Symphonic Wind Ensemble is a concert ensemble group that meets daily as a band course and performs various times throughout the year. The ensemble consistently receives straight superior ratings at Large Group Performance Evaluation.
The Swinging Swashbucklers, a jazz band, began in 2015 and is a smaller ensemble that plays various styles of music including jazz, rock and Latin American music. This group offers an opportunity to solo and improvise music, as well!
Instrumentation varies in The Music Pit Orchestra, but allows the best of the best students to perform in a venue with the drama department. This group began in 2017.
The Pirate Regiment is the award winning marching ensemble here in Pike County. The group is comprised of 8th-12th grade students, and have traveled all over the Eastern United States, including New York, Williamsburg, and Orlando. Most notably, the group won the Silver Division Championship at the 43rd Old South Marching Festival in Newnan, Georgia in 2022, having outscored a total of 11 other ensembles. Pike County High School was built in 1955 on what is now our Pre-K campus. Our current campus opened in April of 1994. The student population at the high school is approximately 1,000, and includes students in grades ten through twelve. Our mission is to develop creative problem solvers ready for college and career.
